I spent 1 year as a junior designer and another 1.5 years as the Lead designer at Realise live.
Responsibilities included creating fast concepts and visuals using SketchUp and Lumion and then taking signed-off projects into Solidworks to create production-ready drawings, files, and instructions for the in-house production team. I Managed entire projects, which included creating artwork in illustrator ready for print, ordering all components, materials, and electronics; overseeing production, dealing with clients, and often getting involved with production myself, and for a time I also ran the 5x10 ft 3 axis CNC machine. I was also responsible for 3 other designers to which I had to teach the company processes, software workflows, and production methods.
HP - Omen Challenge
HP holds the OMEN challenge every few years where average Joe gamers get put up against professionals in fierce competition. I designed this entrance tunnel to the main arena as well as being involved with the entire production of the event. Key design considerations include ease of assembly and transport as everything had to be put in a lift no bigger than a few sq meters.
Medivet - Vet Show
Medivet has a stand every year at the vet show and in 2019 we were responsible for the design, production, and installation of the stand. I created visuals using SketchUp and Lumion, and then made the production model in Solidworks and created plans for our workshop and suppliers to bring the stand to life. Medivet had just undergone a rebranding campaign so there was particular attention paid to the materials, finishes, and colour representations across the stand.
Rowse - Wonder Hive
Rowse wanted a stand to tour in summer 2019 to show the importance of bees! (and sell honey) I used this project to teach one of our junior designers our workflow and Solidworks processes. This project required knowledge of a multitude of materials, processes and finishes.
Sky - House of Sky Q
Sky and Netflix were about to combine forces so we created an event that showed off 4 of their best shows, Game of Thrones, The Crown, West World, and Stranger Things. We transformed an empty gallery space into 4 distinct areas that people would experience with live actors and effects that would bring the different universes to life.
Cricket World Cup 2019
Cricket world cup 2019 saw us create a range of interactive stands that toured the country. On the unit to the left, countries and players would be changed depending on who was playing. Spectators would press their team’s button and each would be counted. The unit below was a backdrop to which you would take a photo and upload the photo to Instagram with a hashtag. The photo would be printed with a filter. As more photos got added to the main board it would create a larger image.
Fever-Tree
Fever-Tree attends many festivals, exhibitions, and events throughout the summer and we were one of their main production companies. The bar (left) was at Imbibe 2019 and had an interactive element. Press one of the 4 buttons on the bar representing their different mixers and the complimentary alcohol on the back wall would light up. Below is a shop window dressing at Amathus in Soho.
