I spent a year placement at Arno during my degree and continued to work for them for a year post-graduation as a Development Designer.
We would take renders from our creative department and produce models and drawings for manufacture in both Creo and Solidworks depending on the project/client.
Parker Pens
This table/counter unit was the centerpiece of the range of furniture we created. Many iterations were created throughout its life-cycle, some small, some large enough to redesign the whole assembly. Knowledge of timbers, metals, plastics, solid surfaces and lighting all came in handy on this unit alone.
Parker Pens had us produce and install a worldwide shop in shop solution - including stores and boutiques in Japan and China. The solution included a large range of products including tables, chairs, light-boxes, and decorative fixtures along with many other items.
Microsoft
I spent a bit of time at one of our suppliers as a QC agent using my keen eye for detail in making sure all units left the factory in top condition.
Microsoft tasked us with developing, manufacturing, and installing the new flagship suite of display tables for the Microsoft Surface range of devices. The display tables allow customers to enjoy a fully immersive experience with the products before buying. From prototyping to the installation, it took four months to implement the tables. In total, we produced over 800 units for retailers in 16 European countries.
SCEE - Various
I was involved with this small PS4 unit which was created as an easily installed and adaptable housing for a PS4 to be hooked up to a monitor anywhere in shop. It can be fixed to slat walls, RSJ’s and clamped to tables. Thermal ventilation was a large issue that was addressed due to the PS4 on top only being a ‘dummy’ unit and the real one inside the main body.
SCEE and Arno had a strong relationship so I was involved in many projects with them. The image left/above was designed to be the entrance to the Sony area at a large electronics convention. Complete with large fabric graphics, fog machine, flooring, projector, and smart led’s that can be controlled to create patterns and effects.
SCEE - GT Pods
I created a ‘refresh’ kit for already existing GT pods for the new Grand Tourismo video game release. This kit included all the lighting to attach to the units as well as new housing for the Playstation 4 games consoles. And new brackets for the seat and pedals.
A later brief required me to recreate the entire units in CAD to be costed as a complete package. These have been displayed at a range of gaming expos across Europe including the insomnia game festival in Birmingham.
Dyson
Dyson needed a new range of display furniture to show off both their existing and new innovations.
With primary timber and Corian construction, these units incorporated light-boxes, monitors, and various other electronics that I also created the schematics for in Autodesk.
